Detection of Migrating and Non-Migrating Atmospheric Tides Derived from ERA5 Temperature Meteorological Analyses

چکیده
To better extract the tides represented in European meteorological analysis ERA5, an of histograms diurnal and semi-diurnal modes as a function longitudes was performed. This revealed that with different characteristics appeared regionally along single longitude. Retrieved migrating were compared tidal model showing global agreement below 60 km twice amplitude analyses at mid-latitude. Non-migrating have been identified tropical band. They logically appear above convective zones, probably due to water vapor excess. Their are from components. preliminary study has shown it is necessary develop additional observations allowing for more frequent sampling retrieve non-migrating can only be achieved satellite constellations space.

Non-migrating tides connections with topography and surface properties
Atmospheric densities derived from measured acceleration of several Mars orbiters reveal large amplitude Sun-synchronous longitudinal density variations at altitudes of about 100-160km (see Figure 1). These variations are associated with vertically-propagating nonmigrating solar thermal tides that are excited near Mars’ surface and propagate into the thermosphere. Excitation of these waves is a...
متن کاملMigrating planets
A planet orbiting in a disk of planetesimals can experience an instability in which it migrates to smaller orbital radii. Resonant interactions between the planet and planetesimals remove angular momentum from the planetesimals, increasing their eccentricities. Subsequently, the planetesimals either collide with or are ejected by the planet, reducing the semimajor axis of the planet. If the sur...

متن کاملObservations of atmospheric tides on Mars at the season and latitude of the Phoenix atmospheric entry
[1] We report on the atmospheric structure derived from atmospheric entry of NASA’s Phoenix Mars probe using Phoenix Atmospheric Structure Experiment (ASE) data complemented by Mars Cl imate Sounder (MCS) temperature‐pressure profiles. Oscillations in temperature, caused by thermal tides, have vertical wavelengths of tens of kilometres. Their amplitudes are much larger in individual profiles th...
متن کاملMovements of migrating green turtles in relation to AVHRR derived sea surface temperature
Previous studies have shown that for some populations of marine turtle, individuals move along narrow migration corridors in the open ocean. It has been suggested that these migration corridors may correspond with nearsurface oceanographic features that can be detected by remote sensing. This idea is examined by superimposing the tracks of green turtles (Chelonia mydas) migrating fromAscension ...
